Position Purpose
To play a critical role in the management and execution Dartmouth Varsity Sports and Peak Performance. Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) enables varsity student-athletes to achieve the highest levels of physical, intellectual and personal growth during their Dartmouth careers. This position includes an emphasis on student-athlete development (career, academic, and personal advising), DP2 operations, and event management.
Mental Performance Consulting
This position will provide comprehensive mental performance consultation services to optimize mental skills, resilience, teamwork, and sport participation for student-athletes and coaches.
Support a portion of the 35 varsity teams for the Big Green by offering one-on-one sessions for student-athletes, mental training programs for teams or groups, and consultation for coaches to the assigned teams.
Ensure early identification of potential mental health concerns and refer to counseling services to further holistic student-athlete care.
Attend practices and games, and provide observation, feedback, and mental performance services to assist student-athletes and coaches in pursuing performance excellence and overcoming barriers to performance well-being.
Work in support of the mission and mental performance philosophy outlined by the Corrigan Family Assistant Athletics Director for Leadership & Mental Performance.
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary peak performance team to promote the optimal environment for performance excellence using best practices, evidence-based strategies, and peer consultation.

Peak Performance Collaboration
Meet with coaches, administrators, faculty, campus partners, and prospective student-athletes to explain the functions of Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2).
Support DP2 communication efforts to develop educational materials and coordinate effective flow of information to student-athletes, coaches, and staff (e.g., website, email digest, and social media).
Assist with ongoing DP2 programs and events (e.g., DRIVE Leadership Program, leadership lunches, campus speakers, etc.).
Collaborate with individuals on and off-campus to provide services related to DP2.
Percentage Of Time 25%
Requirements
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology or related field (e.g., related to mental performance) and/or equivalent experience/training
- Progressive experience in sport psychology/mental performance consulting in athletics, military, or corporate settings.
- Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) (or has completed all coursework and mentored experience requirements)
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Must be self-directed, strongly motivated, well organized and have a high level of energy.
- Ability to meet unique student needs as they arise and effectively refer to other support services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Sport Psychology or related field (e.g., related to mental performance) and/or equivalent experience/training.
