Description
The primary purpose of this position is to assist and support existing/potential customers and the WITTENSTEIN Inc. organization in the selection of the WITTENSTEIN Inc. products that provide the optimum solution for the customer's machine/application. To provide further leverage of their product knowledge, the application engineer organizes, creates, and provides supporting information, tools, and training necessary for the effective sales and support of WITTENSTEIN Inc. products in the market. In addition to directly supporting customers and the internal and external sales staff, the application engineer will provide valuable feedback to the manufacturing and development branches of the WITTENSETIN Inc. organization to enhance existing products and develop appropriate new products for the target customer markets enabling WITTENSTEIN to exceed revenue and profit expectations. This is a hybrid role (3 days in the office, 2 days remote every week).
- Provide answers to technical questions from customers, sales, customer center, and other departments concerning the proper and optimum application of the full range of products offered by WITTENSTEIN Alpha. Particular products, areas of competence, and/or customer regions will be assigned on an individual basis in agreement between the employee and supervisor
- Analyze customer needs, then develop proposals for application and integration of products into customer applications. Utilize software tools to ensure proper sizing and fit of Alpha products to other components on the market
- Create new part designs and product modifications following the Product Development Process
- Work with service, development, and product engineering in Germany to recognize and diagnose chronic problems and failure mechanisms
- Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay appraised of new developments in the field. Acquire new technology skills through attendance at in-house training seminars as well as commercial or academic training courses
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 2 - 5 years of experience preferred
- Practical knowledge of mechanical systems and their use
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as calculus, differential equations, analytic geometry and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and algebra
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to work independently on single items as well as cohesively and efficiently as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software; Development software; Manufacturing software; Project Management software, spreadsheet software and Word Processing software
- Engineering degree is required
- Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred
- Previous engineering experience in the electromechanical and / or servo systems industry is preferred
