Overview
DDC-IT Services is seeking individuals to fill a remote role of Senior z/OS CICS Transaction Server System Programmer. Active Secret Clearance and eligibility to acquire a Top Secret Clearance is required for this role.
Responsibilities
- Plan, install, upgrade, implement, maintain and customize IBM CICS Transaction Server (TS) including Multi-Region Operation and WebSphere Application Server (WAS) consisting of multiple application servers maintained from a central administration point as well as cluster application servers for workload distribution.
- Plan, install, upgrade, implement, maintain and customize software used as or for Message Broker.
- For WAS implement an automated build process to provide a simple and convenient method for developers to accomplish builds for development, test, and production environments.
- Establish CICS/TS intercommunications.
- Implement WAS authentication and authorization capabilities to secure administrative functions and applications confidentiality.
- Implement the following CICS/TS facilities to include but not limited to Function Request Shipping, Asynchronous Processing, Transaction Routing, Distributed Transaction Processing, and Web Support Services.
- Assist and lead as necessary, the design and maintenance of the integrity of production CICS/TS Virtual Sequential Access Method (VSAM) files.
- Modify CICS/TS systems/regions and associated products as DoD requirements change.
- Perform integration, regression, and concurrence testing of CICS/TS systems and applications using appropriate testing methods.
- Provide technical services to the customer on questions and issues relating to the database software maintained on the systems for IBM CICS, Message Queuing (MQ), and WAS including all changes and upgrades. Provide reports to the supported Government POC on customer questions.
- Diagnose and resolve CICS environment system abends and abnormal operating problems using system logs, and other available logs and documents. This includes creating and interpreting system traces and dumps, job output, and monitoring tools.
- Provide administration of IBM MQ series, including defining an environment from initial install and determining requirements for channel, manager, and queue settings.
- Create, define, modify, and understand CICS parameters to be able to create new regions per requested criteria without assistance.
- Create and maintain backup processing for CICS & MQ and their associated products.
- Implement security management and auditing with RACF for z/OS.
- Implement WAS high availability manager service to eliminate single points of failure in any of the application servers.
- Support DOD Cyber Security requirements, Authority to Operate (ATO) preparation, and security audits.
- Maintain all CICS/TS system exits written in IBM's High Level Assembler Language (HLAL).
- Analyze CICS, MQ, and WAS software environments to provide performance tuning recommendations and plans.
- Analyze causes of outages to provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports, give presentations to managements about RCA, and lead mitigation efforts of a team of technicians.
Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance and eligibility to acquire a Top Secret Clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math and seven years' experience with IBM CICS, MQ, and WebSphere products in a large mainframe environment.
Or
Ten years' experience with IBM CICS, MQ, and WebSphere products in a large mainframe
environment.
