Overview:
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is seeking skilled professionals to support a wide range of program and technical services across the institute.
This is a remote position with occasional onsite visits required for key personnel to support collaboration, planning, and program delivery.
The NICHD OIT team provides full lifecycle IT support, helping the institute maintain a secure, efficient, and modern technology environment. Team members will work alongside NIH scientists, administrators, and stakeholders to deliver innovative, compliant, and user-centered digital solutions that advance NICHD's strategic goals.
The Senior Application Developer will lead the development, modernization, and sustainment of NICHD's diverse application portfolio, supporting mission-critical functions across research, policy, and administration. The portfolio spans SharePoint-based solutions, .NET applications, Drupal content management systems, and a variety of databases including Oracle, SQL Server, and MySQL. This role ensures secure, scalable, accessible, and interoperable applications by applying NICHD, NIH, and HHS software development standards, while integrating modern technologies and practices.
What Youll do: ..
Required knowledge and skills
- With at least 4 years of experience with overseeing application development and ensuring quality control
- With at least 5 years' experience in .Net and SharePoint 2013/2016/2019/SPO, along with MVC, Ajax.
- With more than 5 years' experience with Nintex K2 automation
- Experience with ActivePDF products, Telerik Radcontrols and iText/iTextSharp, SharePoint Search
- Experience writing web service calls
- With at least 5 years' experience writing stored procedures for both SQL Server and Oracle
- With at least 3 years' experience using USWD

Nice to haves
Experience supporting NIH, HHS, or other federal health agencies.
Experience migrating legacy systems to modern platforms.
Working knowledge of Drupal CMS development.
Certifications such as:
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
Salary Range:
- The salary range is $155,000-175,000/year. The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors that influence compensation decisions, including skills, experience, training, certifications, and organizational needs.
