Project Manager (Application Development)

Location: Tokyo, Japan

About the Role

We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the operational rollout and ongoing development of a newly launched community app. While the initial build is complete, this role will focus on coordinating enhancements, managing feature rollouts, and ensuring smooth adoption and long-term usage. You will act as the bridge between product, engineering, and operations-driving delivery schedules, ensuring quality, and supporting residents' engagement through continuous improvement of the app.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, manage, and deliver application development projects from roadmap to release.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, design, operations, vendors) to ensure milestones are met on time and within scope.
• Oversee operational processes for onboarding, updates, and feature activations.
• Define, track, and report on KPIs such as adoption, engagement, and performance.
• Translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure alignment between stakeholders.
• Manage risk, dependencies, and resource allocation across multiple initiatives.
• Maintain project documentation, workflows, and status reports.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a project manager or product manager in application or software development.
• Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
• Strong ability to manage cross-functional stakeholders (engineering, design, business).
• Proficiency with project management tools (Jira, Confluence, Slack) and MS Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mobile app development lifecycles (iOS/Android).
• Knowledge of UX/UI principles to support design and usability discussions.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies and sprint planning.
• Experience in operations management for digital platforms.
• Technical understanding to work effectively with development teams (not hands-on coding).
