Summary
The Manager, Performance Marketing & Automation Strategy is a hands-on role responsible for executing SHRM's performance marketing strategy, delivering personalization at scale, and driving measurable business results across the B2C portfolio. This position blends performance marketing activation with strategic narrative creation in omnichannel execution, ensuring SHRM's consumer campaigns are both data-driven and brand-consistent.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is skilled in Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO), Customer Journey Analytics (CJA), paid media platforms, and thrives on experimentation, automation, and performance optimization. You will partner closely with product, creative, BI, and sales to prove the revenue impact of personalized marketing at scale.

Responsibilities
- Design, launch, and optimize omnichannel campaigns and journeys (Adobe AJO, email, push, on-site, paid media).
- Deliver personalization at scale, using data-driven decisioning and real-time targeting.
- Manage and optimize performance marketing channels (paid search, paid social, programmatic, RMNs, SMS, owned media) to maximize CAC efficiency, ROAS, and incremental lift.
- Analyze customer journeys and campaign performance using Adobe CJA and other analytics tools; translate insights into actionable optimizations.
- Build and manage A/B and multivariate testing programs, including AI-driven creative and offer variants.
- Partner with product, creative, analytics, and BI teams to ensure campaigns align with launches, lifecycle goals, and revenue priorities.
- Collaborate with Martech and data teams to activate first-party data strategies, maintain consent capture, and enable privacy-compliant personalization.
- Manage campaign budgets, pacing, and reporting, ensuring transparency and ROI to senior stakeholders.
- Lead sizeable, multi-layer marketing team with a focus on high performance, setting clear priorities, elevating team effectiveness, and ensuring strong alignment with organizational strategy. Work cross-functionally to ensure campaign narrative and creative execution are consistent across all channels.
- Contribute to a culture of experimentation, automation, and performance optimization within the B2C Marketing team. Consistently represent SHRM's culture, values, and mission in all internal and external interactions.
- Demonstrate SHRM's Guiding Principles in daily work and relationships, fostering a cohesive and collaborative environment.
- Act as a brand ambassador by promoting SHRM's reputation as a mission-driven, purpose-led organization.
- Participate in industry events, professional networks, and community engagements to strengthen SHRM's visibility and attract individuals aligned with our culture and goals.
Education & Experience Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field.
Experience:
- 6+ years of marketing experience with a focus on digital, membership, or product marketing.
- 6+ years in performance and lifecycle marketing.
- Proficient experience with hands-on expertise in Adobe AJO/CJA and/or proven hands-on experience working with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) and associated marketing automation tools (not including Adobe Creative products).
- Demonstrated experience as a People Manager, with responsibility for directly and indirectly overseeing a team of 10+ professionals.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proven track record in personalized, triggered, omnichannel campaigns.
- Strong understanding of paid media buying platforms (Google, Meta, programmatic, RMNs) and performance KPIs.
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, incrementality testing, and analytics platforms.
- Solid grasp of first-party data strategy and privacy-compliant activation.
- Highly analytical with ability to convert data into actionable insights.
- Proven success in budget management at scale ($12M+).
- Proven ability to lead large, multi-layer marketing teams to high performance, setting priorities, driving accountability, and aligning work to organizational strategy.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including coaching and developing team members, fostering collaboration, and aligning work with organizational strategy.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with ability to align performance campaigns to SHRM's broader brand narrative.

Work Environment
Hybrid Position (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote):
- This position follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring in-office presence [three days per week] and remote work [two days per week]. Core work hours will be designated by the department. The office environment includes a standard workstation setup with collaborative spaces, while remote work requires a reliable high-speed internet connection and a suitable home workspace. Employees must maintain availability during standard business hours and adhere to company policies for both in-office and remote work.

The hiring range for this position is $98,000 to $129,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
