Description
About Pendar Technologies
Pendar Technologies is advancing the field of intelligent chemical analysis with cutting-edge spectroscopic instruments such as the Pendar X10, and additional platforms soon to be introduced. Our team is passionate about creating technologies that make a transformative impact in scientific research, forensics and public safety.
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Application Scientist to join our team. This individual will play a central role in expanding the impact of our Raman spectroscopy solutions by driving method development, producing high-quality publications, and representing Pendar at leading conferences and workshops.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and refine analytical methods tailored to real-world applications of Pendar Raman systems.
- Design and execute experiments to demonstrate the capabilities of our instruments.
- Lead method development as a hands-on scientific contributor, exploring custom approaches (e.g., wet-chemistry methods, sample preparation methods, substrates, or specialized tools).
- Write and publish application notes, scientific articles, and technical communications that highlight novel findings and demonstrate instrument capabilities.
- Represent Pendar at scientific conferences, trade shows, and workshops, presenting research and engaging with thought leaders.
- Collaborate closely with internal R&D teams to guide product development with direct scientific contributions.
- Support marketing, business development, and customer-facing teams with technical expertise and thought leadership.
Why Join Us?
- Be part of a small, innovative team where your scientific expertise directly shapes next-generation products.
- Work with cutting-edge spectroscopy technology applied to real-world challenges.
- Opportunities for professional growth through publications, conference participation, and collaborations with leading scientists.
- Competitive compensation and benefits.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Analytical or Physical Chemistry, Forensics Science, Material Science or a related field.
- Experience with wet chemistry, chemical synthesis, or assay development is strongly appreciated.
- Practical experience with Raman spectroscopy (instrument operation, method development, or data interpretation).
- Demonstrated ability to author scientific publications (peer-reviewed articles, application notes, or equivalent).
- Strong oral communication skills and confidence presenting at scientific conferences.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- A creative, independent thinker who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Who Will Succeed in This Role
This role is suited for individuals who are methodical, disciplined, and driven by technical challenges. The ideal candidate is pragmatic rather than dogmatic in their approach to problem-solving, engages constructively in technical debates, and values collaboration over individual recognition. We value individuals who are reliable, adaptable, and committed to producing high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
Success in this role also requires comfort with the language and practices of chemistry, ensuring effective communication with end users and facilitating assay development when needed.
